The marine environment is ruthless. Of course, every Bowers & Wilkins speaker should sound brilliant. So these marine speakers were first designed to meet strict sound quality standards and then added the hardness needed to survive the harsh marine environment. Both models are IP66 rated - if properly installed - and the metal grille and all bolts are marine-grade stainless steel. The core drive frame uses a non-corrosive, rigid polymer, and the tweeter dome has a rear support to prevent permanent deformation.
