So these marine speakers were first designed to meet strict sound quality standards and then added the hardness needed to survive the harsh marine environment. Both models are IP66 rated - if properly installed - and the metal grille and all bolts are marine-grade stainless steel. The core drive frame uses a non-corrosive, rigid polymer, and the tweeter dome has a rear support to prevent permanent deformation.
